About

OLSHBAU is a small art and design studio in Gdańsk, Poland, founded in 2025 by Lena and Dmitry.

We make wall reliefs, small sculpture, objects and photographs. Most of the work starts as cardboard, paper, plaster and wood: ordinary materials that we cut, layer, cast and paint by hand until they hold a shape and a colour.

What we look at

The early twentieth-century avant-garde: Constructivism, Suprematism and the Bauhaus. Malevich's figures, plain geometry, strong colour set against raw material. We do not copy it. We borrow its language — the circle, the cross, the grid, the thin red line — to make objects for the rooms people live in today.

How the work is made

Everything is made in the studio, one piece at a time. Forms are drawn, cut and rebuilt; plaster is cast and sanded; colour goes on by hand. Templates, test pieces and failed casts are part of the process. We share some of them in the Lab.

Originals

Every original is unique. It is signed and numbered on the back (ART.001, ART.002, …) and ships with a signed certificate of authenticity. The certificate carries the same number and a QR code that leads to the work's page on this site. The page stays online after the work is sold, so the record stays with the work.

Photography

The photography section is in preparation. Prints will be made to order in the studio, in the sizes and on the papers listed on each print.

Commissions

We make works to commission: a particular wall, size or colour. Write to info@olshbau.art with the size, a photo of the space and a rough budget.
