Olshbau – A New Beginning in Shapes and Colors
Some things are lost forever. Others find a way to return—changed, fragile, yet filled with new meaning.
We are Lena and Dmitry Olshevskiy, a family, a team, two people who have spent over a decade designing and making home decor in Ukraine. Since 2011, we crafted minimalist bookends, bookmarks, and sleek metal furniture for vinyl records, turning raw materials into objects with purpose and soul.
But in 2022, everything changed. The war forced us to leave our home, our workshop, our life’s work. We found refuge in Gdańsk, Poland, but the shock settled deep. For two years, creativity felt distant—buried under the weight of loss.
Then, slowly, ideas returned. We have always been drawn to Suprematism, Bauhaus, and the silent power of shapes and colors. We missed working with our hands—the simple joy of cutting, gluing, painting, and creating. And so, Olshbau was born.
The name carries our essence: “Olsh” from Olshevskiy, “bau” from the German word for “build.” We sketch shapes from scratch, bringing them to life with paper, scissors, glue, and paint—a workshop of ideas rather than machines. Dmitry finds the forms, and Lena breathes color into them. Every piece is a conversation, a collaboration.
Olshbau is only two months old, but it already holds everything we believe in. Shapes that speak. Colors that resonate. A future built from the past.
We are Lena and Dmitry. We build. Welcome to Olshbau.
